Congratulations Georgy Boys
Congratulations must go to STAG's only Georgy Award winner for 2006.

Matt La Porta won a well deserved Georgy for his potytrayal of Sir Evelyn Oakleigh in STAG's Anything Goes.

Well done, Matty - knew you could do it!

And while we're talking about Anything Goes, well done to Tarkin Bostancioglu who won the Georgy Award Certificate of Excellence for the show.

Hopefuls Ready To Shoot To FAME
The race is on to find the cast of Shepparton Theatre Arts Group's 2007 musical production, Fame - The Musical, and by the looks of the interest in the show, the producers are going to have a hard time narrowing down hopefuls to create the final cast list.

STAG President and Fame - The Musical director Aaron-David Palmer said the company was overwhelmed by the fantastic response to the announcement of the show's auditions. "It's been a bit of a circus, but the production team are taking it all in their stride," he said. "Auditions will certainly take a while, but in the end we know we will have selected the best of the best."

And the number auditioning for STAG's Fame - The Musical? One hundred and twenty six and counting. Looks to be that this production will one the most anticipated shows of 2007, and rightly so. STAG boasts a fresh, new production team for Fame - The Musical. Aaron-David Palmer will direct his first major theatrical production for the company after his successes with AussieRock and Sing Me A Story while music teacher Ryan Black will act as Musical Director. Claire Sexton will compliment the production with her dynamic choreography.

Auditions for Fame - The Musical will be held on November 18 and 25 at the group's rehearsal venue in Wheeler St. If you think you have what it takes to be part of this exciting production, please phone Jo Chambers on 0427 253 614 for all the inside information.

Fame - The Musical will be staged at WestSide Performing Arts Centre from May 18-26, 2007. Tickets will go on sale from Riverlinks in early 2007.

The Bruce Awards
No, it's not that big Barry Humphries-like shark from Finding Nemo in his own awards presentation, but rather the Victorian Music Theatre Guild Awards for Excellence.

And guess what? Sing Me A Story has been nominated for Best Concert Performance for 2006. *insert loud cheer*

Well done to all involved in the show and to getting it at the performance level it reached. Your commitment has shown that audiences are still very willing to go see a STAG end-of-year show.

What now? Well, we have to wait until December 2 when the awards are presented down in Melbourne.

We'll keep you posted.
