| The committee of Shepparton Theatre Arts Group Inc. are pleased to announce that Andrew Morom will make his directorial debut with the company as he takes the helm of our 2008 play, Minefields and Miniskirts.
Adapted by Terrence O'Connell from Siobhan McHugh's enlightening and shocking book of the same name, the show will be staged from August 7 - 10, at the Shepparton R.S.L. Much has been written about the young soldiers who went to Vietnam as innocent boys and returned as hollowed out men. Far less has been written about the women, who mostly went in caring roles rather than to the front-line. But the experience was just as defining - and haunting - for them. They encountered adventure and abuse, romance and rape, carnage and cause for celebration. They also discovered strengths they never knew they had. The Minefields and Miniskirts cast consists of five women, each telling their gripping and extraordinary real-life stories in a production that will move you to tears. An Information Night for prospective cast and crew will be held on Wednesday April 30 at the Bakehouse, commencing at 7.30pm. Auditions will be held on May 3 at the Bakehouse. Here the team are hard at work constructing a working set for the cast and crew to rehearse on. The set for Oliver! has been designed by Guild Award nominee, John Lancaster and brings to the production a realistic feel to the dark and bleak skyline that was London in the time Oliver! was set. Congratulations to STAG's indoor netball team, aptly named 'STAG' who defeated 'MRO' to be crowned Div 6 Champions. Stranger things have happened, but I'm sure we're all still getting over this one. The champion team would like to thank their supporters, particularly the feisty Dale Roberts who provided very strong vocal support from the sidelines...and without a mic! |
